The Best Man’s and usher’s duties
- Helps plan the bachelor party
- Attends the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner
- Buys the bride and groom a gift
- Escorts the guests to their seats at the ceremony
- For all female guests, the right arm is offered
- If seating a couple, the male walks behind
- Brides guests seated to the left
- Groom’s guests are seated to the right
- If one side is filling more quickly then balance them out
- Just before the bride enters, escort the groom’s mother to her seat, then the bride’s mother
- Oversee transfer of all gifts to secure locations after reception
- Helps decorate newlywed’s car
The bridesmaids’ duties
- Attends bridal shower
- Helps maid/matron of honour plan and pay for bridal shower and bacherloritte parties
- Helps bride run last minute errands
- Helps address invitations
- Attends the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner
- Buys the bride and groom a gift
- Helps the bride to remove her gloves before the exchange of rings
- Arranges the veil after the bridegroom raises it to kiss his bride after the vows
- Helps the bride with her train at the reception, if necessary
- Participates in the wedding party dance
- Participates in the bouquet toss
- Helps decorate newlywed’s car
- Provides support and keeps smiling no matter how stressful things may get
- Is responsible for the storage of the wedding gown during the honeymoon
The bride’s mother’s duties
- Attends the bridal shower
- Helps with all wedding plans as needed
- Prepares guest list for bride’s family
- Selects attire based on the style and colours of the wedding
- Stands in receiving line for wedding party
- Raises her glass to the couple immediately after the toastmaster completes his/her speech and before the groom gives his reply to the toast
- Participates in the wedding party dance
- Helps keep track of gifts received
The groom’s mother duties
- Attends the bridal shower
- Spreads the word regarding where the couple are registered
- Prepares guest list for groom’s family
- Offers financial assistance to groom, if appropriate
- Consults the mother of the bride regarding her wedding day attire

- Stands in receiving line
